Town of Hay River

The Greenspace Master Plan is more than a document: it’s a blueprint for how a community invests in its natural assets while planning for both resilience and growth.

My role was to create a report that felt accessible and trustworthy: integrating the Town’s brand identity while turning technical content into an easily navigable document. From custom maps to illustrated cross-sections, every element was designed to convert complex data into visuals people could actually use.

The result was a publication that balances clarity with polish, a forward-looking tool to support council decision-making and community engagement alike.

2024 Land Development Booklet

Hay River, Northwest Territories, is lovingly referred to as the “Hub of the North,” and is a community grounded in cultural roots and northern resilience, with a growing vision for the future. With just under 4,000 residents and deep ties across the South Slave region, the Town needed a fresh, engaging way to present new residential opportunities and long-term planning goals.

My role was to design the 2024 Land Development Booklet, a project that highlighted available lots, upcoming subdivisions, and community amenities while reflecting the Town’s identity and values. The booklet combined clean layouts with maps, development diagrams, and accessible copy flow, ensuring information was not only clear for investors and residents, but also visually aligned with the Town’s forward-looking brand.

The result is a resource that communicates both opportunity and place — a visual invitation to imagine building a life in Hay River.

Fraser Place Subdivision Signage

Large-format signage has one job: to deliver critical information at a glance, in a way that cannot be overlooked.

For the Town of Hay River’s Fraser Place development, I designed an 8' x 4' roadside sign announcing the subdivision’s sealed bid auction. The challenge was balancing regulatory clarity (dates, bidding instructions, lot sizes, and price points) with visual hierarchy that instantly draws the eye.

Key design elements include:

  • Subdivision map integration: a clear, scaled visual so prospective buyers can immediately see available lots.

  • Strategic typography: bold, high-contrast text for deadlines and auction details to ensure readability from a distance.

  • Color + brand alignment: a palette that reinforces the Town’s identity while ensuring information stands out in a roadside environment.

  • Functional legibility: every word and figure carefully sized to be understood at driving or walking speed.

The result is signage that not only informs, but reinforces credibility and trust, guiding residents and investors toward one of the community’s newest opportunities.
